I have been collecting quotes and will share my main centering quote which was the inspiration for my touchstone word of the year: Space.
It's from Viktor Frankl, a psychologist and philosopher who survived Auschwitz:
"Between stimulus and response there is space. In that space there is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom."
At its root, it's a reminder to take a breath and think about the choice I want to make -- whether it's what to eat, whether or not to exercise, how to respond to a snarky comment, whether to say yes to a new opportunity. And also that I am the one who has the autonomy to create the future I want. If you haven't read Man's Search for Meaning, it's very inspiring and thought provoking.
And here's a bonus quote from Yoda: "Do or do not. There is no try."
I love this reminder about our choices! It's tough to keep straight what we can control and what we cannot. I especially love the Yoda shout-out!
